A Few Thoughts about Our Beliefs

The Sugar Grove Church of Christ is an independent, Bible believing congregation.  We seek to base what we do on what we find in Scripture and the actions of the early church as found in the New Testament.

From Scriptures such as 1 Corinthians 15:1-8 & John 3:16, we teach that Jesus Christ is the one and only Son of God, who died for our sins and arose from the dead.

We value the many writings of history that are available today, but we feel the Bible is unique in that it is God's inspired word.  The Bible guides all that we say and all that we do, and tells us everything we need to know. 2 Timothy 3:16, Psalm 119:105, John 20:30,31.

Romans 3:23 states clearly that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.  Without the forgiveness of Jesus Christ, we are lost.

Scripture points us to the forgiveness of sins and the promise of eternal life that is available to those who trust and obey Christ as Savior and Lord. John 3:16, John 14:6, Mark 16:16

We invite all to worship with us and participate in the Lord’s Supper with us.  We encourage everyone to examine the teachings on baptism as taught in the Scriptures and practiced since Jesus began the church. In the New Testament baptism is the immersion in water of a repentant believer, symbolizing Christ's own death, burial and resurrection. Membership in our congregation is based on the first century Biblical practice of baptism by immersion.  Romans 6:1-11 & Acts 2:38

In Scripture, we find that the Church is the body of Christ on earth, empowered by the Holy Spirit and exists to save the lost and edify the saved.  Ephesians 4:1-16
